 Old Trafford Cricket Ground- Manchester

http://www.lccc.co.uk/

Lancashire County Cricket Club, Old Trafford, Manchester, M16 0PX,  GB

Travelling by Tram

There are tramworks between Victoria Station and St Peter's Square. Despite this, we think  that getting the tram will be the easiest way of getting there, as the cricket ground is right next door to the tram stop.

For trams to Old Trafford you will have to get on at St Peter's Square or G Mex, which ever is nearest your hotel. If you're staying in the Oxford Road/Piccadilly area, you will find St Peter's Square will be closer, if staying in Castlefield/Deansgate you will find GMex your closest stop. If you're unsure, ask at your hotel reception. If getting allow about 10 - 15 minutes extra time.

You will need to get on an Altrincham line tram and get off at Old Trafford. The fare is £2.40 from both St Peter's Square and G Mex. We would recommend having the exact change for this as the machines often don't give out change. They won't let you on the tram without a ticket so make sure you get a ticket before getting on. The machines do not accept credit cards so you will need the cash.

When getting off the tram, go down the stairs and you will see a sign telling you where to go to get to the cricket and football grounds. To get home by tram - the trams do usually run untitil around midnight (ish) so there should be trams running after the concert, although there will be a considerable wait

By Bus

The 17 and 115 from Piccadilly Gardens and you can get off at Talbot Road. The gmpte website will have more info. We wouldn't recommend travelling by bus though as it will take longer due to traffic and all the extra stops it makes, even with the extra wait at the tram stop. Manchester does have a good night bus service so assume the 17 and/or 115 will have a night bus service.

By taxi

If there are four or five of you it may be cheaper to get a taxi than getting the tram. Of course, it may take longer because of traffic but I would say from the city, if traffic isn't too bad, budget for about £15 ish (We've been told that's the average fare from the football ground, which isn't far from the cricket ground). You can flag down black cabs with their yellow lights on in the city, or alternatively go to a taxi rank and get one there: Piccadilly train station; Albert Square; a small one near the Pret on Cross Street; High Street (near the Primark). Or of course you can ask your hotel to call one to pick you up from there. Getting home by taxi - You would be able to flag one down somewhere but guess it is going to be very busy. At that time of night you would be looking at paying £20 at the least to get home, especially with traffic.
